February…the month of LOVE!
Those of us in the Midwest are deep into our winter season and February brings us the hope of the new Spring to come, a time of rebirth, longer days and warmer temperatures. It also features Valentine’s Day. It gives us time to reflect on the love we have for each other and gives us a special day to celebrate. I know most of you acknowledge you love for others often, even daily. But do you acknowledge your love for yourself that often? How better to celebrate Valentine’s Day than by spending time focusing on your love for you! Do something special for YOU this month! Loving yourself is just as important as loving others.
How often do you judge yourself? You make a “mistake” and beat yourself up for it. Stop that! Develop compassion for yourself. You are always doing the best you can under the circumstances. You might be under a lot of stress, are tired or worried, and that causes you to make a decision that is not for your highest good. Don’t berate yourself for that. Acknowledge that it occurred and resolve the situation as soon as you can. Don’t dwell on the negative. Heal the situation, make amends, forgive, do whatever you have to and put it all behind you.
So let’s focus on loving and healing ourselves and get ready for the excitement of Spring, melting snow, crocuses poking up out of the ground and spending more time outdoors!
